"Bharat Parikrama PadYatra" completed its successful one year on August 8, 2013. Shri Sitaram Kedilaay Ji, who was the All India Seva Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, had last year started his PadYatra on August 9, 2012 from Kanya Kumari. The PadYatra that has traversed through Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat is now in Rajasthan. Urging villagers to "Know their motherland Bharat"..."Be Bhartiya"..."Make Bharat a Global Mentor" and advocating countrymen to..."Go towards the Cows"..."towards our Villages"...and "towards our Mother Nature", Shri Sitaram Kedilaay Ji walks around 10 to 12 kilometers every day. This way he has already traveled close to 4,000 kilometers across five states of the country. Each and every village where Shri Sitaram Ji visits gives a grand welcome to him. Villagers come over to listen to Shri Sitaram Kedilaay Ji with enthusiasm and dedication. Shri Sitaram Ji begins his PadYatra with cow worship at 6 AM in the morning, he then plants tree saplings in the next village. Other activities in the village include informal talks with school children, attending the village Satsang Sabha, meetings with village professionals such as vaidyas (doctors) and artisans such as barbers, iron smiths, masons, farmers and former soldiers. Shri Sitaram Ji eats once a day through charitable alms collected from generous villagers. On August 9, Shri Sitaram Ji was in Badnor village of Bhilwara district in Rajasthan, which incidentally is also the village of Mewar's brave warriors such as Shri Jaimal Singh and Shri Patta. The picture is from one of the events in these villages.

RSS condemns in strongest terms the explosions carried out by terrorists at the Bodh Gaya Temple of Lord Buddha, who was the harbinger of universal peace and who gave the world the message of peace, compassion and non-violence. The lack of will on the part of our government to deal conclusively with the activities of terrorists with a heavy hand, the terrorists are succeeding in their nefarious designs. The need of the hour is for all to rise above partisan politics to deal with this menace decisively.

RSS 3rd Year Sangha Shiksh Varg Concludes at Nagpur; Nirmalanandanath Swamiji, Bhagwat addressed June 7th, 2013, 10:53 am Nagpur, June 6 : Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat Thurday made a strong case for restoring Dharma that is value system that holds society together to put the fast declining social, political and economic situation back on rails once again. Dr Bhagwat was addressing the concluding function of the on-going Third Year RSS Sangh Shiksha Varg at Nagpur wherein swayamsevaks from all over the country participated at Reshambag grounds. Sri Sri Sri Nirmalanandnath Mahaswami, head priest of Chunchungiri Mutt, Bangalore, was the chief guest while scion of Baroda Maharaja Samarjitsinh Gaekwad graces the occasion with his special presence. Sarvadhikari of the camp Sri Pawan Jindal and Nagpur Mahanagar Sanghchalak Dr Dilip Gupta were also present on the dais. The RSS Chief reiterated that the rulers were bound to uphold the Dharma (Value system) and defend Desh (country) as their duty. There could be no compromise with this in any situation. Explaining that the concept of Dharma as envisaged by Indian thinkers was not just confined to religions or ways of worship. “We had in our country a number of religions. They were not in conformity with each other; even at times were opposed to each other. But they all had the same definition of Dharma because it was related to holding the society together. Today there is a need to introduce this ‘Samajdharma’ in educational curricula so that the eternal values that held the society together could be re-established”, the RSS Chief said. This Dharma which was known as ‘Sanatan Dharma’ or ‘Hindu Dharma’ was the essence of our society. We must plan our behavior and life in accordance with this Dharma. We must protect it at any cost, Dr Bhagwat appealed fervently to the swayamsevaks and masses. Curb Naxalism with firm hand: Firmly rejecting the idea of negotiating with the Naxalites, Dr Bhagwat called for curbing the Maoist violence with a firm hand and strong determination. Referring to the recent attack on Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh the RSS Chief said that these Naxalites talk of protecting the rights of the tribal people. But they believe in the principle ‘power flows through the barrel of the gun’ and indulge in indiscriminate and insensitive killing. They do not believe in our constitution neither do they honor the law of the land, then why talk with them?, he asked. They should be paid in the same coin, he added. The RSS Chief said that the Naxalites are more interested in creating chaos in the country than ameliorating their condition. “But the leaders and administration overlooked this fact and honor the traitors while the patriots are being punished. The government has failed in evolving an effective intelligence network, providing latest weapons to the security forces, and giving corruption-free administration. Instead of doing this the government and some leaders advocate for talking to Naxalites. This is very strange. Those who do not accept the Constitution and believe in violence cannot be allowed to hold the nation and society to ransom. There is no point in holding talks with them. They are the enemies of our country; they should be wiped out by using force. But our governments are incapable of doing it”, Dr Bhagwat asserted. Chinese incursions: Referring to recent Chinese incursions in Indian Territory the RSS Chief said that our reaction to this incident was similar to that of 1962. “Our leaders look at this ‘aggression’ as ‘localized affair’. Some of our leaders even say that our borders are not properly demarcated. They do not know that by saying this they are helping the enemy of the nation. This is ridiculous”, he said. This has once again proved how weak our government was in tackling serious situations like this, he said, adding that the manner in which this border issue was allowed to precipitate as also soft stance adopted by some leaders, presented a grim picture of the neglect of our country’s vital interests. Dr Bhagwat said that it was surprising to see that we have people amongst us who lobby for the enemy. This was a new phenomenon that we have people who speak on behalf of the enemy in our midst. This was a strange happening. In Assam, the border is not secure. Millions of foreigners have entered into our territory and despite the Supreme Court and High Court directives to detect and deport them no action was taken in all these years. No procedure was ever evolved to detect and deport these illegal foreigners, he said. Stating that the government was not vigilant about the security of our borders the RSS Chief said that the main function of the rulers was to protect the boundaries of the nation and to safeguard the value system that sustained the society. There could be no compromise with this. Today, the aim of politics was confined to fulfilling one’s interests and for this the parties and leaders could go to any extent even prostrating before the anti-nationals, appeasing the minorities and spreading confusion amongst the people just to get the required votes so that they could remain glued to power. Repeal of anti-cow slaughter law: Citing example of Karnataka government headed by Congress party Dr Bhagwat said that the first thing the new Congress government did was to remove ban on cow slaughter in the state. He questioned the propriety, priority, reasoning and logic behind repealing the anti-cow slaughter law passed by the earlier BJP government in the state. Just to appease the minorities this was done on priority basis, he said adding that by doing this the Karnataka government heaped insults and injuries to the feelings of millions of Hindus in the state and the country. He said that in democracy people are the supreme. They elect their leaders and governments. Given the provisions of the law and the system, people were bound to perform this duty. But they should realize that they hold the key to power and also a key to restore the system. No government or administration could work against the popular sentiments and wishes. That is why the fate of the country remained in the hands of the common people. They should rise above the petty differences of caste, language, religion etc. and stand as a strong, powerful and prosperous society to make the country the world leader. To make the society realize its duty, it was necessary to instill their faith once again in Dharma that is the eternal value system that sustained the society. Unfortunately, the word Dharma was wrongly translated as Religion confusing the minds of the common people. When the common people see political leaders and governments confusing the society, they should show constructive dissent. Popular movements have potential to change the destiny of the country, the RSS Chief asserted referring to crusades against corruption the country witnessed a couple of years ago Recalling Swami Vivekananda’s observation that India was land of Dharma and no power on this earth could destroy it so long as it adhered to Dharma, the RSS Chief said that the RSS has engaged itself to restore people’s faith in this Dharma and awaken them to their duties towards the society and the nation. He appealed to the people to join the RSS in this noble mission. Restore Cultural Legacy: Nirmalanandanath Swamiji Sri Sri Sri Nirmalanand Mahaswami ji in his speech said that India was a young country with 70 per cent population belonging to the youthful people. This immense energy of youth should be diverted towards the positive direction so that it could be harnessed properly for the development of the society, he added. The youth should be introduced to the legacy of our culture and Dharma so that their gigantic energy could be properly utilized, he said. Lamenting that today’s youth was more westernized due to modern education system the head seer of Chunchungiri Mutt said that we should not forget our culture and moral values. Society sans values and culture could not make progress, he added. Stressing the introduction of values and principles of Dharma in the education system the swami said that the education system should redeem us from all bindings and separateness. Spiritual and ethical values alone can provide solution to our problems. Earlier, the participants of the camp presented physical drills, exercises, suryanamaskars, and band performances. Sarvadhikari of Varg Sri Pawan Jindal made introductory remarks while Karyawah Vitthal Kamble introduced the guests and proposed vote of thanks. The function was attended by people from all walks of social life in large numbers. The Statement of Sarkaryavah Shri Suresh(Bhayyaji) Joshi on the Violent Attack on Congress Party Workers in Chhattisgarh. The fatal attacks by Naxalites on Congress Party's caravan at Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh, on May 25, has shocked and saddened the entire nation. This violent attack and its intensity is, till date, the biggest on any political party's caravan. We condemn this henious violence in strict terms. Violence cannot, and should not, be the answer to any problem in the country. In order to create a peaceful environment in the country, the administrators should sincerely work for the betterment and upliftment of backward classes & forest dwellers and strictly deal with the perpetrators of violence. Administrators should be alert so as to provide adequate security to all those who avail their rights under the democratic framework of the country. We pray that Souls of all those who were killed in this henious violence may rest in peace.

We have disregarded the foundation, says RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat Guwahati, 12.05.13 :- RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat reiterated that Hindutva alone can solve all the problems facing the nation and the world today while speaking at the concluding ceremony of the Sangh Shiksha Varg, 2013 held at Hojai, in the Nagaon district of Assam. While maintaining that the sangh can only be understood through direct experience, and not through lecture or library, he said that there are some things in this world that cannot be compared to any other things, like the sky, the ocean or the war between Rama and Ravana. It is a human tendency to compare with known things when trying to understand something unknown. This is the trap people fall into while trying to understand the sangh. To some it appears as a National Sports Club, to others a national Music Club, a national martial arts organisation to some others. Many think that the sangh is a party that take part in many movements. While it is true that the sangh (or rather the swayamsevaks) does all of the above, it is none of these. Today the world has come to the realisation that the path of progress most of the nations have followed so far has led only to progress of the means of consumption, but it has failed miserably to end human misery. The root of the problem is (1) lack of spiritiuality, (2) lack of moral concern and (3) lack of values. The world is looking towards Bharat with hope as only she may show the world the true path to happiness with her vast reserve of eternal wisdom, Shri Bhagawat said. But, at home the situation is not so hopeful. There is enemy at the borders, and the people tend to blame the governement for every problem. But we blissfully forget that the governement act only as the people do. Instead of emphasising our common national interest, we display the rifts created in the name of cast, creed and religion. What we forget is that the fundamental principle that binds us together as a nation is the eternal values Bharat stands for -- its Sanatan Dharma, which is known as Hindutva. It is this foundation from where we have to start all over, Sri Bhagawat emphasised. The sangh is not a party within a society, it is the organised force of the nation, of all its people. As such, the sangh is not something to be supported from outside. It is something to be part of. Sri Bhagwat appealed to the people to be swayamsevaks and be part of the effort the sangh is making for the last 87 years.

Condemning death of Sarabjit Singh in Pak Jail by RSS The Brutal and Barbarian attacks on Indian citizen Shri Sarabjeet Singh who was lodged in a Pakistani jail proved fatal and led to his untimely death. This has saddened and angered people across India. The attacks on Shri Sarabjeet by Pakistani hooligans was to avenge the hanging of Afzal Guru who was hanged only when India's Supreme Court awarded him with death sentence after finding him guilty. On the contrary, there was no unanimity in Pakistan over either on the nature of offence or on the quantum of sentence awarded to Shri Sarabjeet by the Pakistani courts. In this context brutal attacks on an individual lodged in Pakistani jail raises a big question mark on political and judicial set up of Pakistan. In fact, the attacks have not happened on an individual named Sarabjeet Singh, rather it is an open assault on India's Constitution and its Judicial set up. Earlier on, Sarabjeet Singh had expressed concerns over his safety with the authorities in Pakistan. Sarabjeet had apprised the Pakistani authorities about impending plans to attack him. Yet despite this the Pakistani authorities did little to provide any kind of security to him or to shift him to a safer location. This in itself is a serious error on the part of Pakistani authorities. The Indian government should take cognizance of this unfortunate incident and condemn the incident in no uncertain words. Today, the entire family of Shri Sarabjeet Singh is mourning his untimely death. Their anguish is justified. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is with the family in their hour of profound grief. May the soul of Shri Sarabjeet Singh rest in peace and may God God give strength to his family members. Dr. Manmohan Vaidya (Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh RSS)

Bali is a state of Indonesia, a secular country with the biggest Muslim population in the world. But the majority in the state of Bali, over 93 %, are Hindus. Bali is home to 4.22 million Hindus whose ancestors had to flee from other islands of Indonesia, after the great Indonesian Hindu Empire Majapahit was defeated and most of Indonesia was converted to Islam. Here are some interesting facts about Bali that every Indian Hindu must know. 1. Nyepi day, a day of total silence (mauna) once a year, when even the Ngurah Rai International Airport of Denpasar is closed from 6 am to 6 am. No cars, no traffic, no entertainment, no TV. Sit in the house, do contemplation, do prayers. Can we introduce that Nyepi Day in our noisy country? 2. The culture of Bali was begun by the Rishis of India, whose names are no longer taught in the schools of India but which are common in the schools of Bali—Markandeya, Bharadwaja, Agastya - the names we hear in the Puranas but they are part of the way the history of Bali is taught in the schools of Bali. How many Rishis can you name? Do you remember any one of the 402 names of the Rishis and Rishikas (female Rishis) from the Rig Veda (the most ancient and most sacred text of Hinduism), which are our ancestors and the forming fathers of our religion – Vaidika Sanatana Dharma? 3. The national Balinese dress for both, men and women, girls and boys, is Dhoti. No one can enter a temple without wearing a Dhoti. Except in some parts of South India, Dhoti is laughed at in India today. Why are we so ashamed of our heritage? Even most Indian priests change their dress after they are finished with the worship because they feel ashamed in a Dhoti?? 4. The social, economic and political system of Bali is based on the principle of tri-hita-karana…three benevolent, beneficent principles— that every human being has three aspects …the duty, the relationship that we have with God [Parahyangan]; the relationship that we have with human beings [Pawongan]; and the relationship that we have with nature [Palemahan] and these are the three principles on which the entire culture of Bali is built. This was all established by the Rishis whose names are just about forgotten in India which are taught in the schools of Bali. 5. Trikala Sandhya (Sun worship three times a day) is practiced in every Balinese school. The Gayatri Mantra is recited by every Balinese school child three times a day. Many of the local radio stations also relay Trikala Sandhya three times a day. Can we even think of introducing something like this to our schools in India? How many Indian Hindus are aware of their duty of Trikala Sandhya? It is as central to our religion as the 5 times Namaz is to Islam, yet? 6. In the year 1011 AD, at a place which is now known as Purasamantiga… there was the first interreligious conference of three religions: Shaiva Agama, Bauddha Agama and Baliyaga, the traditional pre-Buddhist, pre-Hindu, Balinese religion. The scholars and the leaders sat down and worked out a system by which the three religions should work together and exchange forms with each other and that is the religion of Bali today. 7. In Bali every priest is paid by the government. Despite the fact that Indonesia is a secular country with the biggest Muslim population in the world, the priest of every religion is paid by the government so every religion is supported by the government. That is the Indonesian form of secularism. Can we even think of this in India? 8. The national motto of Indonesia “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. One is many, many is one.” is inspired by an Indonesian Hindu scripture Sutasoma Kakavin. The complete quotation is as follows - “It is said that the well known Buddha and Shiva are two different substances; they are indeed different, yet how is it possible to recognize their difference in a glance, since the truth of Buddha and the truth of Shiva are one? They may be different, but they are of the same kind, as there is no duality in truth.” Why can’t we have “Ekam Sad Vipra Bahudha Vadanti” (The truth is one, but the wise express it in various ways – Rig Veda) as our national motto? 9. Bali is one of the world’s most prominent rice growers. Every farm has a temple dedicated to Shri Devi and Bhu Devi (Lakmi the Goddess of wealth and mother earth - the two divinities that stand on the either of side of Tirupati Bala ji in India). No farmer will perform his agricultural duties without first making offerings to Shri Devi and Bhu Devi. That is called culture, that SubakSystem. The agricultural and water irrigation plan for the entire country was charted in the 9th Century. The priests of a particular water temple still control this irrigation plan. And some World Bank or United Nations scientist did a computer model that would be ideal for Bali. And when they brought the model the Balinese said ‘we have been practicing this since the 9th century. What are you bringing here?’ And I don’t know how many million dollars these WTO, these World Bank people, United Nations people, spent on creating that chart which was already created in the 9th century without any computers…. and that Subak System still continues. Such systems were in place in various parts of the country. Its remnants are still visible here in India. I have visited areas where there is no water for miles due to drought, yet the well at the local temple still provides fresh water. 10. In Bali Hindus still don’t read a printed book when they perform Puja (worship). They read from a Lontar, which have traditionally been scripted by hand on palm leaf. When they recite the Ramayana Kakavin…where the book is kept, worship will be performed. There is a special ritual of lifting the sacred book, carrying it in a procession, bringing [it] to a special place, doing the bhumi puja, worshipping the ground there and consecrating the ground, then placing the book there. Then the priest will sit and recite the Ramayana. When I was called to Bali it was to teach and preach the Vedic teachings. But I came back with a humble realization that I have to learn more from Bali than I can actually teach them. Facts according to Swami Veda Bharati, a great master of meditation from the Himalayan Tradition.
RSS Strongly reacts as Rajasthan govt asks affidavit from sports-persons stating no link with RSS! A sports ceremony organised by Rajasthan’s Congress government was turned in to huge controversy when government’s Sports Department demanded an affidavit from every awardees stating that they are not involved in RSS ! More than 300 sports persons were given out cash award in Jaipur’s SMS Stadium this afternoon for excelling at the state level championships. But a controversy broke out over an affidavit that every awardees was asked to file, stating that they are not involved in RSS and activities of Jamat-e-Islame. Sports persons were taken by surprise when this clause was pointed out to them but Rajasthan Sports Council says they have only followed government guidelines even as BJP accused Gehlot govt of bringing politics into sports. More than 300 sports persons who have done well at state level championship, Rs 2.26 crore doled out, Rs 1 Lakh to first position holders, Rs 50,000 to second and Rs 20,000 to third position holders! But a row has erupted over the cash prizes. As a formality for claiming the award, every sports person had to give an affidavit to the effect that they will not participate in activities of RSS and Jamat-e-Islame! RSS Reacted strongly: Reacting to VSK-Karnataka on the above incident, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya said, “We strongly condemn this vindictive attitude of the Rajasthan Government and the Congress. Unless the said Organisations are banned, Rajasthan government’s decision to take up such affidavit from sportspersons is totally unconstitutional, vindictive and politically motivated”. ‘Congress should not bring its politics and personal vendetta in the field of sports’, said Dr ManmohanVaidya. Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha begins today Jaipur 15th March. Akhil Bhartiya Pratibidhi Sabhi was inaugurated by lightening the inauguration lamp by P.P. Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohanrao Bhagwat Ji and Sarkaryavah Bhaiyya Ji Joshi. Speaking to the reporters in the press conference Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatrey Hosbole Ji told that there are about 1395 members participating in the Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha from all over Bharat. In this meeting qualitative and quantitative progress of the work done and its impact on the society will be discussed in detail. Also the goals will be set for the coming year. Last year Forum for Integrated National Security (FINS) took a wonderful initiative – Sarhad ko Pranam. About 6000 of our swayamsevaks participated in this initiative wherein they visited border areas of Bharat. They experienced the extreme conditions in which our defense personnel stand guard our borders as well as shared the experiences of our brothers and sisters who stay there. Datta Ji told the reporters that this year is the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda ji and Swami Ji’s Sardhashati samiti is organizing various programs throughout the country. He told that on 12th Jan 2013, the actual birth date of Swami Ji, Shobha Yatra was organized all over the country. Lakhs of brothers and sisters from all age groups, caste and creed participated in the same. This sent a very strong message of nationalism and Hindutva in the society. 18th Feb 2013 was celebrated as Mass Surya Namashkar day wherein more than 2.5 crore students from class 8th to 12th participated in the same. A large number of Muslim and Christian students also participated in the program. It was organized keeping in mind Swami Ji’s ideology, “sound mind in sound body”. Datta Ji told that there will be a resolution which will be passed at the end of the meeting. One of the key points of the resolution will be the plight of Hindu immigrants. 60 years after the partition of Bharat, from both East (Bangaladesh) and West Pakistan, even now lakhs of Hindus are taking asylum in the country because of worsening conditions of Hindus in the respective countries. Our resolution will demand that our Government should ensure basic necessities are provided to them and it should also come out with a concrete policy to deal with such immigrants. A press statement will be released on the present scenario of the country including economical, security, terrorism, appeasement and various issues related to the rivers of the country. Datta ji told the reporters that the plight of women in Bharat at present is a very serious issue and corrective steps needs to be taken on an urgent basis. Returning of the dead body of terrorist Afzal Guru was made an issue in the parliament of Pakistan and a resolution was also passed in the same lines. Datta Ji strongly criticized this unwarranted interference by Pakistan in the internal affairs of Bharat. This clearly shows the double standards of Pakistan because on one side they refuse to take the body of Ajmal Kasab or other 12 dead Pakistani terrorists in the Mumbai terror attacks and on another they demand the body of Afzal Guru. Pakistan needs to put an immediate stop to this undue interference and should respect the law of the land. Talking about Ram mandir at Ram Janam Bhoomi, Datta Ji told the reporters that even after the Hon’ble Allahbad High Court’s order which clearly states that there was a temple underneath the Babri structure, the Babri Masjid action committee refuses to acknowledge the same. This is the same committee which told that they will have no objection for construction of ram mandir if the existence of the temple before Babri Masjid is proved. Various Dharmacharyas and Sant Mahatma passed a resolution at Maha Kumbh for construction of Ram Mandir and petitioned to the Government to ensure the same is done as early as possible

RSS Sarasanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat, Sarakaryavah Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi at ABPS, Jaipur Present status of Sangh work: We are all aware that Sangh Shiksha Vargas has a special importance in our organizational structure in training the swayamsevaks. Last year, 52 Sangh Shiksha Vargas (RSS Training Camps) were held in 50 places. 12549 trainees in first year vargas from 7408 places, 3063 trainees in second year vargas from 2320 places and 1003 trainees from 923 places participated in third year Sangh Shiksha Varg. Special vargas like normal Sangh Shiksha vargas were organized in 2012-13 too. 1218 trainees from 895 places participated in first year and 768 trainees from 621 places in second year Sangh Shiksha Varg took part in these vargas. According to the information collected from all over Bharat, 42981 Shakhas are being run in 28788 places. Sangh work is also being carried through 9557 Saptahik Milans (weekly get togethers) and 7178 Sanghmandlis (monthly get togethers). Good plans have been made in all the states this year for expanding Sangh shakhas. As a result there has been growth in shakha work both in terms of quantity and quality. Everybody will have to pay attention to stability and quality of shakhas so this momentum carries on. Status report of organizational work: Shareerik vibhag (Physical training) – Shareerik vibhag had presented Prahar Yagna programme for shakhas this year and the report is quite satisfactory. Prahar yagna- Prahar yagna was organized in 15924 shakhas. 1,66,959 swayamsevaks took part in this Prahar Yagna and did 5,71,76,520 Prahar totally. 18421 Swayamsevaks did more than 1000 prahars. Bouddhik vibhag (Intellectual training) – Like earlier years, special training workshop of selected 78 swayamsevaks was held in Bhopal. 40 karyakartas made presentations. We could test their intellectual prowess. Prachar Vibhag (Media) – 25 states organized letter writing workshops in 2012-13, in which 2248 swayamsevaks took part. Training workshops for karyakartas were arranged so they could participate in TV debates and discussions. Around 100 brothers and sisters took part in TV debates in 50 different channels in different States. 182 journalists in 82 places were felicitated on the occasion of Naarad Jayanti. Intellectuals and journalists were present in good numbers in all these programmes. This programme was organized by Vishwa Samvad Kendra in coordination with Prachar Vibhag. 31 Jagaran patrikas are reaching 1.7 lac villages all over Bharat broadcasting news and nationalist views to these villages. Well planned approach to ‘Social media’ has seen good number of people willing to join Sangh through its website. Around 1500 people have shown interest in joining Sangh each month through the site. Special programmes organized in various states: Dakshn Bang (Southern Bengal) – A Youth Camp was organized on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand in Southern Bengal in January 2013, that was open to only youth between the age of 15 to 40 years. 9115 youths from 2052 places participated in this camp held in Kalyani. It is a big achievement for Sangh work in Dakshin Bang. It is worth mentioning that sanyasis from Ramkrishna Math too participated in this camp. Presence of 25000 citizens from nearby villages and towns in the valedictory function is notable. Poorva Andhra (Eastern Andhra Pradesh) – ‘Hindu ChaitanyaShibir’ (Hindu Awakening Camp) for which preparations were going on for nearly a year, will prove to be an important mile stone in the growth of Sangh work in Poorva Andhra. Bharatiya Pragnya Exhibition (Exhibition about Indian Intellectual prowess) was able to arouse a sense of pride in the people who visited it. About 1.25 lac brethren visited this exhibition. 17233 swayamsevaks from 2404 places took part in this camp. The Matrusammelan (Get together of mothers) saw a presence of 10000 mothers, Prabuddha Sammelan (Get together of Intellectuals) was attended by 960 people, and it is worth mentioning that Sant Sammelan (Get together of Sants of various religious sects) was graced by 72 Sants. Presence of 60000 people during the valedictory programme was beyond the expectations of the organizers. 3. Pashchim Andhra (Western Andhra Pradesh) – A special camp of ghosh (band), named ‘GhoshTarang’ was held in Pashchim Andhra in which 865 players participated. Approximately 8000 citizens were witness to this unique event. Reputed persons from Music and Art are In “Swagat Samiti” made for this programme. 4. Malwa Prant Ekatrikaran (Get together) –Sangh work is growing rapidly since last few years in Malwa (part of administrative Madhya Pradesh). The state team had decided to organize this programme for a short time and it proved to be an immensely memorable event due to hard work put in by the karyakartas. 83345 swayamevaks from 3991 places took part in this get together. It is worth mentioning that all the localities (vasaties) of 108 cities and towns were represented in this get-together. Event was minutely planned so that inspite of being such a massive programme, no difficulties were faced by the people due to traffic jams that might have ensued. Administration, media and citizens were highly appreciative of this meticulous planning. 5. Karnataka Dakshin (Karnataka Southern) – Mangalore division of Karnataka Southern has highly intensive Sangh organization. Mangalore is, otherwise, considered an administrative district. State has only recently declared Udupi as a district. Presently all the villages in this division have some or the other form of Sangh work. Mangalore division also organized a massive get-together in the month of February. 1080 villages out of 1500 villages, 2786 localities out of 3015 were represented by 85347 swayamsevak participants in full Sangh uniform. In the preparatory phase of this programme, 247 short term vistaaraks (full time volunteers) left homes, while 457 karyakartas worked full time for preparations though they stayed at home, and over 15000 swayamevak gatnayaks (team leaders) worked tirelessly. Their efforts resulted in the success of this massive programme. One thing worth mentioning about the programmes organized by Malwa and Dakshin Karnataka is that these huge get-togethers were organized only on the basis of oral instructions and messages; without resorting to any printed literature. Strength of organizational structure of Sangh was illustrated through these programmes. Both the programmes and programmes held in Kolkata and Poorva Andhra saw the presence of respected P.P.Sarsanghchalakji. Konkan prant – On the occasion of 150th year of Swami Vivekanand, Konkan prant organized a 3 day camp for college students. 1467 students participated in this camp. 546 students from 11,12 th class, 323 from college level, 535 from medical, Engineering and L.L.B. and 63 are post graduate students. Jaipur prant- Jaipur prant organized a camp for Sanghkaryakartas who hold some responsible positions in the organization and trained karyakartas during the tour programme of respected P.P. Sarsanghchaalakji in September, 2012. Camp was to be attended only by karyartas who worked at shakha team level and swayamsevaks who have been trained in Sangh Shiksha Varg. Participants presented physical drills (shareerik) and group songs (sanghik geet). There were different workshops/baithaks for different categories of karyakartas depending upon their responsibilities. 6968 karyakartas from 1946 places attended this camp. Uttar Tamilnadu Prant – On the occasion of Rathasaptami Suryanamaskar programme was held in the prant. All 675 shakhas participated in this programme. 10721 Swayamsevaks took part in this and made 2,22,932 Suryanamskars totally. All the above programmes give us glimpse of organizational might of Sangh. We are confident that follow up action plans are also being worked out carefully in all these places. These programmes also indicate the future growth of our work. All these programmes saw positive participation and support of citizens and media. National Scenario: Year 2012-13 saw some important events taking place in our country. Some events are inspiring while some subjects need awakening and thinking is required at all levels of the society. Conspiracy of Pakistani army to intrude into our borders- Incident of Pakistani forces intruding into Bharat Territory and horrendous attack on Bharat soldiers is not an ordinary incident. It is clear that it is a conspiracy hatched by committed terrorist group dedicated to Pakistani cause. Intelligence Bureau also seems to have the same view. Decapitating martyr Hemraj’s head and leaving it behind on the Indian border illustrates the savagery of Pakistan. Pro-Pakistani Jihadi groups are putting into act anti-Bharat programme. Presence of anti- Bharat forces is a big threat for the nation. Need of the hour is for the our government to take these incidents very seriously. Presence of well armed and strong military forces alone can give raise and keep up the morale of the common citizenry. Government of Bharat should take right strategic policies suited to current scenario and generate confidence in our people about security of our borders. 2. Infiltration, an elaborate conspiracy –Sustained illegal infiltration from Bangladesh since independence is taking a critical shape now. Bangladeshi nationals entering the Bharat borders, obsentibly in search of employment, are influencing the centers of power and disturbing the peace of the land acquiring citizenship by illegal means. They are not just disturbing the balance of population, but are also creating a challenging situation for Hindu society in those areas. The recent incidents in North-East are specially raising concern in the mind of right thinking people that this is a part of well planned conspiracy. It is tragic that there are elements in our own country that are helping them. It would be a mistake to look at the recent widespread rioting in Kokrajhar as only a local dispute. This incident should be looked at as a part of an elaborate conspiracy. These rounds of violence have been going on for years in Assam, but infiltrators had to face strong opposition for the first time and had to vacate some areas. To counter this, these elements made a show of strength with the help of their local supporters, and the incident was no more limited to that region but spread as far as Mumbai, where these supporters staged violent protests under the agies of Raza Academy and challenged the citizens of this country openly. There were attempts by these elements to threaten and force people from North East studying or employed in various parts of the country, to return to their own native place. Sangh Swayamsevaks and members of organization inspired by Sangh made all efforts for the youths of Norh East in cities like Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi etc. It is unfortunate that so called secularists are raising the fear of threat to security of minorities and refuse to recognize this dire challenge. Power hungry politics – Instead of efforts to bring minorities into the mainstream of national life along with Hindus, there is a competition to adopt policies of minority appeasement. Considering Muslims no more than a vote bank, the Home Minister is making false, malicious and baseless charges that the people responsible for terrorism represent ‘Hindu, Saffron, Sangh and BJP’ and showing their anti-Hindu mentality. Persons talking about ‘Hindu terrorism’ do not have guts to take action against people or organizations openly involved in terrorist activities. It is the result of the same appeasement policy that an elected representative of an assembly can openly appeal for violence against Hindus and the administration dithers in taking action against him. The recent attacks on temples and Hindu settlements in 24 Pragana District and the bomb blasts in Bhagyanagar (Hyderabad) reflect the growing Islamic extremism. Post hanging of terrorist Afzal Guru, the statements and reactions issued by the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and other leaders are a matter of concern. Suspicious Arms deals – Wide spread corruption in Arms deals, is a matter of grave concern and saddens us. Can the Ministry of Defence shrug of its responsibility by shifting the blame on Officers of the Armed Forces? It would be not be in the interest of the country and would lower the faith of the common people of people at holding high posts in Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence fall under the cloud of suspicion. This kind of degrading politics and corrupt system is highly destructive for the nation. 5. Incidents of violence against women –Society is deeply hurt due to recent incidents of violence against women. This is the result of corrosion in ethical values and our social life. How can social life are secured against the distortions that have come about in our society in the name of modernization. Can the situation change by putting the responsibility on security system or policing and improving law and order situation? Social, Educational and religious institutions will have to ponder over their role in the society. Answer to this problem will be found in following ethical and moral life style. 6. ‘Sarhad ko Pranam’ organized by FINS – 50 years have passed since China’s attack in 1962. This was a war in which Indian Army had to face defeat. Utilizing this event, Forum for Integrated National Security (FINS) embarked on an ambitious programme. Youth of the nation should see the borders of our country once, understand the problems of border area, meet the inhabitants of these areas, talk to soldiers who put their lives on line to defend the country and return with a resolve to protect the borders of our country. This was the thought behind organizing this ‘Sarhad ko Pranam’ (Saluting the borders) programme. The humbly request by FINS, Sangh swayamsevaks took part in this big event and made it successful. An age limit of 18 years to 35 years was set for the participants. Efforts were made that all the districts of India be represented in this exercise. 5679 youth from nearly all the districts participated in this programme. International borders pass through 15 states of our country. Young volunteers reached the borders in all the states. They took along sacred waters of their respective places and took back sacred soil of the border which they visited. Human chain called ‘Seema Suraksha Shrinkhala’ was formed along with the local residents. 1,08,105 local brothers and sisters participated in this human chain. 7700 volunteers participated in managing the programme. This programme was successful in awakening the youth about the security of our borders. 7. Swami Vivekanand Shaardh Shati Samaroh (Celebrations on 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand) – Celebrations began informally on 25th December, 2012 as ‘Sankalp divas’. So far, support and participation of common people has been highly impressive and motivating. Sankalp divas for volunteer karyakartas was organized at 9370 places, in which 4,46,969 men and 90,715 women took part. Shobhayatras organized on 12th January saw unprecedented participation of citizens. Participation of non-Hindu brethren along with Hindus underlines the social goodwill. These celebratory yatras took place in 1373 localities in which more than 48 lacs peoples participated. Collective Suryanamaskar programme not only had young boys and girls but also people of all age groups taking part. 26597 schools from 6697 places took part all over Bharat in this programme. 64,17,401 students and 7,25,400 other citizens, i.e. in total 71,43,801 people participated in this Suryanamaskar programme. This is a high water mark by itself. ‘Vishal Hindu Sangam’ was organized in the tribal area in Bodla village in Chhattisgarh state as a part of 150th anniversary celebrations. On the auspicious occasion of ‘MauniAmavasya’ (Magh Krishna amavasya) on 10th February 2013, highly revered Shankaracharya Vasudevanand Saraswati, respected P.P.Sarsanghchalakji and Chief Minister Of the State graced the Hindu Sangam. 1, 25,000 villagers from 1500 villages attended this grand event. Strong feeling of Hindutva and an organized power rising above all the differences is the only answer to the problems of Naxalims, conversions, social inequity; this was the message that was successfully conveyed by this massive Sangam. In Srilanka on this occasion of Shaardh Shati Samoroh Hindu Sangam was organized. Presence of 10,000 people and reponse to other programmes was cheerful. We hope that the forthcoming programmes will also see similar level of impressive social participation by common people. The indications we get from the success of these programmes tell us that understanding the relevance of message of Swami Vivekanand in present times even after lapse of 150 years, society should stand up with resolve on its strong foundations of its own intellectual prowess. 8. Kumbh celebrations in Prayag – Massive Hindu congregation took place on the sacred soil of Trivenisangam in Prayag. A meeting of ‘Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal’ of Vishwa Hindu Parishad took place on this occasion. This meeting was graced by Sadhus, Sants of different sects and faiths, Dharmacharyas, Mahamandaleshwars, revered Shankaracharya etc. P. Sarsanghchalakji also delivered speech on this occasion. In-depth analysis and discussions about problems being faced by Hindu society were done in this meeting. Resolve to build a grand Ram temple was specially made again. As per ruling of Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court pronounced on 30 Sep, 2010, it is clear that the very place where ‘Ram lalaa’ resides now, is the birth place of Lord Ram. This place should now be handed over to Hindus as per promise made by Muslim society earlier before the judgment, and way be paved for a grand temple there. But, Hindu society feels that hurdles have not yet been cleared. Margdarshak Mandal has passed a resolution appealing for Mahajagaran (grand awakening) and Maha anushthan (grand programme). Respected Sants expect Hindu society to put in all its strength to make these programmes successful. Respected Sants firmly believe that such an awakened power alone can pave the way for construction of the grand temple. We are celebrating 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand this year. His thoughts inspire us and give us energy and strength. Therefore, we should study his thoughts regularly. Swami ji says, “If we were to analyse our failure critically, we shall come to the conclusion that in 99% cases, reason is that we did not pay attention to the resources. It is necessary that we pay attention to the strength, purity and completeness of means. We should have faith that if means are correct, then goal shall be achieved.” Our means are our shakha and the swayamsevak moulded through it. More accomplished this resource is, more would be chances of our dream of prosperous nation getting fulfilled. RSS Sarasanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat’s speech, from which few Media drew the debate on ‘Women- Housewife’ issue. Few media deliberately mis-represented Mohan Bhagwat’s views. RSS already clarified that RSS strongly opposed the propaganda of few media persons to falsely quote RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statements, and called the misrepresentation by such media as ‘Unfortunate’ and ‘deliberate’.
